Town Hall
Renovated town hall (after 2001)
In 1802/1803 an impressive “Margrave-style” building replaced the previous town hall of 1616 in the same location. Among other functions, court proceedings formerly took place there. A pillory was attached to the front of the building and the basement contained four dark jail cells. The well-preserved bell in the turret was rung not only on the occasion of council and citizen meetings, but also when tax payments were due or when the forest was on fire.
