House from 1607
This traditional Franconian half-timbered farmhouse combines living quarters and adjacent stables under one gabled roof. The original single-story building received a second, slightly protruding, story in 1607. Three levels of storage attics suggest that the owner was well-to-do.
The front gable is ornamented with a bearded head at the very top. As was typical for the age, the building is recessed from the street. This created a space called “little plague garden”, which was meant to protect the inhabitants from the plague. The dead were placed there until they were collected.
The house address is Rodgasse 3.
